Speed up your HTC Wildfire S - Ultimate Guide

The HTC Wildfire S runs at a decent speed, and is faster than its sibling; the HTC Wildfire. However, if your HTC Wildfire S running slow or sluggish, here are some quick and easy tips to increase the speed and response time of your HTC Wildfire S.

1) Install 1-Click Cleaner and clear cache.

1-Click Cleaner is a great little Android application that allows you to clean out all your App caches in a click, delete call logs, texts and more straight from the app itself. Clearing out cache will help free up your internal memory and RAM thus increase your phones performance.

2) Uninstall unneeded applications.

This is a must do tip for any device, whether it be a PC, Tablet, and so on. You can uninstall applications by going into settings. Uninstalling Applications will again free up internal memory and RAM, thus increase your phones performance.

3) Limit the number of widgets/icons you have on your homescreen
Using lots of widgets and icons on your homescreen will slow down performance as it uses up RAM and CPU. Limit the number of widgets to about 2 or 3, and delete icons (by holding down, then dragging to top of screen) or simply sort them into folders.

4) Don't use a live wallpaper.

Using a live wallpaper takes up RAM and CPU usage. Use a static image, unless you really need a live wallpaper.

5) Move all possible apps to SD (Install App2SD Free.)

Lots of applications are installed to your phones internal memory, when really they can be moved to your SD card, which will free up internal memory and give your phone a nice speed boost.

6) Install Advanced Task manager and under the settings set it to Auto-Kill apps in the background every 10 minutes.
Some people look down on task killing applications, so skip this tip if you like. By installing Advanced Task Manager and setting it to kill background apps every 10 minutes - it'll keep your phone running fast, even when you're not using it! (which may also increase battery life)

7) Clear your Internet cookies, cache and history.

Doing this gave me 10MB extra internal memory. Open up the Internet App. Press the menu button then tap "More" option at the bottom right. Select settings. Scroll down until you get to the "Privacy configuration" sub-heading. Clear all of these:

Cookie Data
Cache
History
Form Data
Location Access
You're internet data is now cleared! :)

8) If your phone is rooted, remove system apps such as stocks etc.

Rooting a HTC phone is quite pricey and complicated, but if you're phone is rooted, you can get a great speed and memory boost by removing system applications like stocks, calendar and other stuff that can be substituted for SD Card compatible apps. Be careful not to delete critical files not doing this. Using a root file manager, browse to /system/app and delete any apps you do not use. If you're not sure if you should delete a certain file, google it; or simply don't do it.

9) Turn off predictive text.

Predictive text is like auto correct on the iPhone. It can be useful, I must admit but it does make the keyboard lag and increase cpu usage when you're typing. You can turn off predictive text by going to Settings > Language & Keyboard > Touch Input > Text Input  and Un tick all settings.

10) Enable Animations.

This one may seem strange, as you'd think this would increase RAM usage. However, after having it disabled and then re-enabling it a few months later; it really does make your Wildfire S feel faster and more responsive. See for yourself by going to Settings > Display > Animations.

11) Delete all your text messages.

Long, chunky text message threads slow down your phone. Delete them by holding down on a text message thread and selecting delete. I also recommend installing GoSMS, a faster text messaging app.

That's it! By following these quick and easy tips, you should have a speedy smart phone! Now that you do not have slow phone, why not Increase Your HTC Wildfire S Battery Life?
